Preventing Weight Gain

We all should know by now the dangers of being overweight. Obesity causes tons of health problems or diseases later in life. Curb that now by preventing further weight gain. If you’re already at a healthy weight, congratulations! You still need to avoid weight gain, and so do people that have recently reached their ideal weight. Keeping that weight off will help you not have to go through the weight loss struggle ever again. Here are some tips that will help you prevent further weight gain.

  1. Drink lots of water.
You need plenty of water every day. This isn’t just to prevent dehydration, though that’s an obvious benefit. Drinking plenty of water keeps your body healthier and improves your skin. Additionally, it makes you feel more full throughout the day. This will prevent unhealthy snacking or binging and will help you achieve better portion control.
  2. Appreciate your body.
Appreciating your new looks will help you take action when your body starts to shift into overweight mode. If you like the way you look, remember it!
  3. Weigh yourself every week.
This will help you catch weight gains when they happen. If they do happen, look over your activity over the past week. Has it changed? Specifically, has it lessened? Also, look over what you ate last week. Any big binges that you can recall? How about a slight change in your portions or meal focuses? Remember, you should be focused on vegetables, fruits, and whole grains; you should not be focused on proteins or fats. That doesn’t mean you don’t need lean proteins! You do, but it should be an accent to the meal, not the star of the plate.
  4. Find an activity plan that works for you.
Unrealistic plans aren’t helping anyone. You’ll slack or fall behind. Then you’ll feel guilty about it. This spiral isn’t helping anyone, least of all you. Find something that works for you and stick with it. If you’re bored, find something else. Remember that physical activity is hugely important for maintaining your ideal weight. It’s not something that can be sacrificed on a whim.
